I find that when I make timeliness I usually am able to stick to it. I try to figure out how many hours it will take to accomplish specific tasks and then schedule accordingly. I get kinda ocd when it comes to this but it really keeps me on track.

Setting goals that you know you are capable of achieving is important. At the same time, see also if it's feasible from the standpoint of leading a good life. If that goal is possible only be making the rest of your time miserable, it might not be worth it. Always do what you think will strike a good balance.

I have always tried to think big but not so big that it's not possible to lay out a plan for achieving that objective. This way, it's easy to find satisfaction in achieving those goals knowing that you planned and executed just as you had envisioned.

well, it's a concept millenias old. first written mention can be credited to lao tzu if i remember right. also you can find description on it and ways to cope in nearly any mahayana buddhist text. if you need it short i can recommend prajnaparamita (diamond) sutra, and if explained - lankavatara sutra, specifically english translation by a japanese named daisetz teitaro suzuki. in these texts this concept is expanded and widely discussed, among other matters.

Basically, do thoughts, words, desires, fears, etc. have energy that alters things, situations, or possibly the world? I was sent an email that said on Oct. 17th, the power of our thoughts, intentions, etc. would have a much much greater effect than usual. What do you think?

That's acutually a very good question.

What I use to do is try to broaden my perspective then and look at what I am doing from a larger perspective (s. http://www.awakeblogger.com/2008/10/a-matter-of-perspective/ ).

One way that helps is to not get caught too much in separation from other people and see more the oneness. "Don't do to others, what you dont want to be done to yourself." I think that's a good guideline, if you decided to live consciously.

In which way is it opposing someone else? Is it competition? Or are you really hurting people?

Fair Competition is a good and inspiring thing. Attacking someone is another realm.

I think basically if you look from a broader perspective on what you desire and it looks good with a oneness mindset, then you are good to go. If it's not, maybe rethink your approach.

Harry, I think you talk about clarity and really feeling your goal and being there. This is like a shift then and you are aligned with what you want to create.

Tolana, I'm pleased to hear that it is of use for you! I think the question "What do I really want?" shifts focus to proactivity and can ignite the desires get energy, to see the world more positive than negative and to be self-determined. I hope you can find some inspiration from the posts. I'm always looking for honest feedback :)

Thank you for this article. I recently discovered your blog and have been working my way through the articles listed on "Start here!". Thank you so much for these wonderful reads. I have been lost for so many years I don't know how to find my way out. Right now I really feel as though I have hit rock bottom in terms of knowing what I want, who I am, what I believe, and self-esteem. Your blog is helping me and hopefully as I read more of it I will find further resources for help. Thank you.

In stage two, I find it really important to be realistic about what it actually takes to realize the intention. It's helpful for me to seriously imagine the process of carrying out the plan. I need to create scenarios in my head and actually rehearse the intended action, bringing real sensory input into my imaginary scene? What will it feel like to give up another hour of sleep to make this happen? Rehearsing makes for better execution in stages three and four.

Good post, Myrko.

I think when it comes to planning its very different from person to person: some people tend to overdo it while some underestimate it. It's also depending on the kind of project we do. The larger it is and the more people are involved the more planning and communication is required. But in then end of course, only the actual result counts for much. :)

All the four points listed are sure helpful. Especially on the part about "Planning"! This is usually the period where I know many people would spend too much time on and fail to act on them.

What I'd do for this stage is to do a quick overview plan, and then start working on it first. This helps get things done faster, and crystallize ideas.
